Post-harvest
technology has emerged a key aspect of competitiveness strategies.
The goal of the USAID-funded TIPCEE project is to increase the export
competitiveness of Ghana's private sector in world markets; strengthening
the capacity of the private sector to respond to market demands
represents a key project component. IBI provides technical assistance
to value chain development for mangoes emphasizing high adoption
rates for harvesting, grading, sorting, packaging, pre-cooling,
and equipment configuration technologies. IBI also assisted the
Ghanaian government to develop an ICT policy and regulatory environment
for communications that facilitates access to communications for
the private sector. IBI consultants conducted research and proposed
policy to address the lack of enforcement of anti-competition policies,
improper pricing of access to bandwidth and infrastructure, and
management of frequency spectrum regimes.
